ANKARA, Jan 22 (Alliance News): The death toll from a devastating fire at a 12-story hotel in Bolu province, Turkey, has climbed to 76, authorities confirmed.
The blaze erupted at around 3:30 am on January 21 at a ski resort, with 234 guests staying at the hotel at the time. According to the Turkish Interior Ministry, 76 victims have been confirmed dead, with 52 identified so far.
A rescue operation concluded on the same day, and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Initial findings suggest all the deceased and injured were Turkish citizens, with no reports of foreign nationals among the victims.
In response to the tragedy, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared a national day of mourning.
