Houston, Sept 19 (Alliance News): A fire caused by an SUV crashing into a valve of a liquid natural gas pipeline near La Porte, southeast of Houston, is still burning after damaging homes and forcing the evacuation of 100 residences.
The fire, which started Monday morning, has decreased in size, according to pipeline owner Energy Transfer. Authorities believe the safest course is to let the fire burn out.
The incident caused significant damage, including melting vehicles and parts of homes, but no air quality issues have been reported. Four firefighters suffered heat-related injuries.
