Guyana Announces $100,000 Cash Grant for Every Adult Citizen

GUYANA, Nov 08 (Alliance News): President Irfan Ali of Guyana has announced a new cash grant initiative, offering $100,000 to every adult citizen in the country.

The initial plan to provide $200,000 to each household was scrapped due to potential conflicts and administrative challenges.

However, the new measure ensures that all adults aged 18 and above will receive the financial assistance by January 1, 2024.

In his statement, President Ali emphasized that this revised initiative addresses concerns raised by young professionals who may not yet have families and were concerned about missing out on the benefits.

The cash grant aims to support these individuals as well, thereby boosting their economic stability and contributing to national welfare.

Ali further clarified that the grant is part of the government’s effort to ensure that Guyana’s newfound oil wealth directly benefits its citizens, making it accessible to all individuals in the country.
