DAVOS, Jan 23 (Alliance News): Iranian Vice President for Strategic Affairs Javad Zarif addressed the World Economic Forum in Davos, refuting claims about Iran’s intentions regarding nuclear weapons.
Zarif emphasized that if Iran had desired to create nuclear weapons, it could have done so long ago.
He assured the international community that Iran’s nuclear program is not aimed at producing such weapons and pointed out that nuclear programs of other countries are conducted in secret, outside the purview of international inspections.
He also argued that Iran is not a threat to global security, asserting that there are efforts to demonize the country, drawing parallels with “Iranophobia” and “Islamophobia” which, he said, are used for agendas such as inciting violence in places like Gaza.
Zarif further added that the world should not fear organizations like Hamas, Hezbollah, or the Palestinian resistance, suggesting that such groups are misunderstood.
