China Promotes a Shared Future in Cyberspace for Global Development and Cooperation

Beijing, Dec 19 (Alliance News): At this year’s World Internet Conference Wuchen Summit, President Xi Jinping reaffirmed China’s commitment to building a “society with a shared future in cyberspace,” a concept first introduced by Xi at the Second World Internet Conference in 2015.

China seeks to leverage the ongoing digital revolution and collaborate with countries globally to ensure that the benefits of the Internet reach all corners of the world.

The evolution of information technology has drastically altered production, communication, and social governance across the globe, making interdependence between nations stronger than ever.

President Xi’s remarks have been widely acknowledged by the international community, setting a clear direction for the development of cyberspace as a space that benefits humanity.

China is taking proactive steps in digital innovation, not only to improve its own citizens’ living standards but also to extend the fruits of its technological advancements to the global community.

Through initiatives like the 9,400-kilometer Direct Submarine Cable (ADC), which connects nations in Asia and the Pacific with faster and more secure data services, and the Beidou system, which serves over 200 countries, China is fostering international digital connectivity.

Moreover, China’s digital initiatives extend to African nations through a satellite-based digital TV project that connects 10,000 villages across the continent, providing digital TV as part of daily life for millions.

Similarly, China is enhancing the monitoring of natural disasters, providing critical data analysis during events like the 2022 Tonga volcanic eruption, which helped guide emergency response efforts.

The concept of cyberspace as a shared home for humanity reflects China’s global outreach through the Belt and Road Initiative.

With the global digital economy expanding, China advocates for universal access to these advancements, particularly for the Global South.

Through international cooperation, China aims to ensure cyberspace remains peaceful, safe, and conducive to the shared prosperity of all nations.

China’s actions embody its vision of a cooperative digital future, where technological innovation connects nations for the betterment of society, building a more inclusive, safe, and modern cyberspace.
