Amnesty International Accuses Israel of Genocide Against Palestinians in Gaza

LONDON, Dec 5 (Alliance News): Amnesty International has accused Israel of committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza since the conflict began in October 2023.

The organization’s 300-page report, supported by satellite images, eyewitness accounts, and government statements, outlines how Israeli actions have led to mass civilian casualties, suffering, and violations of human rights.

Agnes Callamard, Amnesty’s head, called on the international community to act, emphasizing that these findings illustrate an intent to “systematically destroy the existence of Palestinians.”

The report cites 15 attacks between October 7, 2023, and April 20, 2024, which killed 334 civilians, including 141 children, and were not connected to military targets. Additionally, it highlights widespread malnutrition, hunger, and disease contributing to civilian deaths.

Amnesty International’s stance challenges Israel’s claims of acting in self-defense against Hamas, which it accuses of using Palestinians as human shields.

While Israel has rejected these accusations and defended its military objectives, Callamard insisted that the presence of military goals does not exclude genocidal intentions.
