China and Russia React to Donald Trump’s Victory in U.S. Elections

Moscow, Nov 7 (Alliance News): The victory of Donald Trump in the U.S. presidential elections has elicited reactions from China and Russia, two of America’s key rivals.

While formal congratulatory messages have not yet been issued, both nations have shared official comments on the outcome.

In Beijing, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ma Ning addressed the victory, stating that China will continue its relations with the U.S. based on mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and cooperation.

Despite this diplomatic tone, Chinese strategic experts anticipate tougher policies and actions from Trump, particularly in areas such as trade, technology, and security, where they expect increased rivalry.

However, some analysts suggest Trump’s isolationist foreign policy might give China more room to expand its global influence.

Tong Zhao from the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace emphasized that while a Trump victory is not ideal for China, it was expected and not entirely surprising, given the ongoing tensions between the two superpowers.

In Russia, the reaction was more reserved. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov expressed skepticism about Trump’s campaign rhetoric, particularly his statements on ending the war in Ukraine.

Peskov pointed out that only time would reveal whether Trump’s promises would be followed by concrete actions, especially regarding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
