BEIJING, Dec 02 (Alliance News): The Chinese government strongly condemned Lithuania’s recent move to declare the Chinese chargé d’affaires and relevant diplomats “persona non grata” and demand their departure within a set period. China firmly opposed what it described as a “heinous and provocative act.”
The dispute centers around Lithuania’s actions concerning Taiwan, which China views as a serious violation of the one-China principle and the political commitments outlined in the Declaration on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the two nations. This move has exacerbated tensions and complicated the relationship between China and Lithuania.
China has indicated that it reserves the right to implement countermeasures in response to Lithuania’s actions. The Chinese government expressed hope that the newly elected Lithuanian government will adhere to the one-China principle and take steps to normalize diplomatic relations between the two countries.
