LOS ANGELES, Jan 25 (Alliance News): A devastating fire that ravaged the mountainous areas of Los Angeles has now been labeled the deadliest natural disaster in American history, with ongoing efforts to control the blaze.
Reports state that 77% of the fire has been contained in key areas such as Hughes, Vittoria, Palisades, and Eaton, but a staggering 38,000 acres and over 15,000 properties have been engulfed in flames.
The financial toll has been severe, with economic losses from the fire surpassing $250 billion, while 12,000 jobs have been wiped out. Additionally, around 2,000 companies face losses amounting to $1.2 billion.
Efforts to evacuate those in danger continue, but evacuation plans from the Castaic area, where the fire has spread, have been halted.
Simultaneously, the United States is grappling with a ferocious snowstorm, which has affected southeastern states, leaving regions such as Texas, Carolina, Colorado, and Florida covered in heavy snow. Normal life has been brought to a standstill as schools are closed and residents remain confined to their homes.
In western New York, dozens of vehicles have been stranded on highways, with severe disruptions to air and ground travel expected to persist for several more days.
President Trump is scheduled to visit Los Angeles today to assess the damage caused by the wildfires firsthand.
