Germany, Sept 19 (Alliance News): A 31-year-old German woman has died after a shark attack in the Atlantic Ocean near the Canary Islands, a Spanish archipelago off the coast of northwest Africa.
The woman, who was swimming beside a catamaran, lost a leg in the attack on Monday, and despite being airlifted to a hospital in Gran Canaria, she passed away after suffering a heart attack.
Shark attacks in the Canary Islands are extremely rare, with only six recorded incidents. The woman was traveling on a catamaran from Las Palmas at the time of the attack.
