Hamas Releases Four More Israeli Soldiers in Prisoner Exchange Deal

JANIN, Jan 25 (Alliance News): The Palestinian resistance organization Hamas has announced that four Israeli female soldiers, who were kidnapped during the ongoing conflict, will be released today.

The announcement follows a prisoner exchange agreement, with Palestinian authorities confirming that the release of these hostages is part of a broader exchange involving Palestinians incarcerated in Israel’s Afer prison.

According to Qatari broadcaster Al Jazeera, Israel has published a list of the five Israeli female soldiers freed by Hamas today. The soldiers released include Karina Arevo, Daniela Gelboa, Nama Levi, and Larry Elbig. These women have been under Hamas’ custody since October 7, 2024.

This comes after Hamas handed over three Israeli female hostages to the Red Cross on January 19, 2025, under a similar agreement, with Israel responding by releasing 90 Palestinian prisoners, including 69 women and 21 young boys.

Meanwhile, violence continues in the occupied Palestinian territories, as Israeli attacks on refugee camps in Jenin have led to the martyrdom of 14 Palestinians over the past five days. The United Nations has condemned Israel’s military operations, accusing the state of adopting a war-like strategy.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has reported that seven children in Gaza have died from exposure to the cold since the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel began.

The ongoing conflict has already claimed the lives of over 47,000 Palestinians, with more than 111,000 civilians injured since October 7, 2023.
