Eight Dead, Seven Injured in Maharashtra Ordnance Factory Blast

MUMBAI, Jan 24 (Alliance News): A deadly explosion at an ordnance factory in Maharashtra’s Bhandara district claimed the lives of at least eight individuals and left seven others injured on Friday, according to Federal Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.

The factory, located about 830 kilometers from Mumbai, specializes in manufacturing propellants and explosives. Local reports indicate that the incident occurred following a massive blast, resulting in the collapse of a factory roof.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated on X that medical and rescue teams were at the scene, working to locate an estimated 13-14 trapped workers. Five individuals have been rescued so far.

The cause of the explosion remains unclear, with investigations underway. Federal and state officials have expressed concern over the tragedy, while emergency responders continue rescue and recovery efforts.
