South Africa, Sep 29 (Alliance News):A manhunt is currently underway following a tragic mass shooting in Ngobozana village, Lusikisiki, South Africa, where 17 people were killed early Saturday morning. According to police reports, the attack targeted two homes on the same street.
In the first home, four individuals were shot and killed without any survivors. The second home housed 19 people in two separate residences within the same yard, where 13 individuals lost their lives.
Among the victims were 15 women and two men. Thankfully, six survivors, including a two-month-old baby, managed to escape the violence.
The police have deployed a team of detectives and forensic experts to gather evidence and track down the assailants responsible for this horrific act.
South Africa has seen an increase in mass shootings, with the country experiencing its highest murder rate in 20 years. Recent data indicates that over 6,000 murders occurred nationwide between April and June of this year.
In the last month, law enforcement has arrested over 53,000 suspects wanted for violent crimes, including murder, and confiscated more than 400 illegal firearms.
