Beijing, Nov 7 (Alliance News): The Committee on Disarmament and International Security of the Eighty-ninth Session of the United Nations General Assembly has once again supported China’s proposed resolution on “promoting international cooperation on the peaceful use of science and technology in the field of international security.”
The draft resolution was approved by an overwhelming majority, marking the third time since 2021 that the General Assembly has adopted a resolution under the same name.
The resolution highlights the challenges faced by many developing countries, which are subjected to severe discriminatory controls.
It urges the concerned nations to cease the abuse of export controls and other improper practices. The resolution also calls on UN member states to formulate joint studies and guidelines to promote the peaceful use of science and technology.
In addition to the resolution’s approval, the United Nations General Assembly has committed to continuing discussions on related matters.
