China-Africa Cooperation Has No Self-Interest, Says President Xi at Meeting with UN Chief

Beijing,Sep 5 (Alliance News): Chinese President Xi Jinping met with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres during the FOCAC summit in Beijing.

On Thursday, President Xi emphasized that China’s cooperation with Africa is driven by no personal interests. He expressed his vision of building a global community with a shared destiny, hoping that all people, including those in Africa, can live happy lives.

This vision aligns with the century-long aspirations of people worldwide amid the current global changes.

President Xi appreciated the United Nations for its consistent focus on Africa. In response, António Guterres acknowledged that Africa has historically been the greatest victim of colonialism.

He noted that China’s cooperation with Africa would help rectify historical injustices and foster peace and development across the continent.

Guterres also highlighted China’s peaceful development as a significant achievement in human history, contributing to global peace and prosperity.

He stressed the need for stronger cooperation between the UN and China to resist actions that cause conflict and harm collective progress.

Together, they can promote multilateralism and ensure more equitable global governance.
