China Condemns US Arms Sales to Taiwan, Urges Adherence to One-China Principle

BEIJING, Dec 2 (Alliance News): The Chinese Defense Ministry strongly condemned the United States for approving approximately $385 million in arms sales to Taiwan, a move that Beijing claims violates the one-China principle and the three China-US joint declarations, particularly the “August 17 Declaration.” This action, according to Defense Ministry spokesman Wu Qian, has severely damaged China’s sovereignty and security interests.

Wu emphasized that the Taiwan issue is central to China’s core interests and serves as the foundation of China-US relations, representing a red line that must not be crossed.

He urged the US to uphold its commitment not to support Taiwan independence and to cease any military support to Taiwan.

The Chinese government called for concrete measures to safeguard the stability of bilateral relations and military interactions.

Wu underscored that the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) would continue to bolster its military training and combat readiness, standing ready to counter any separatist actions by Taiwan or interference from external forces.
