BEIJING, Dec 5 (Alliance News): Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi delivered a virtual speech at the 20th Beijing-Tokyo Forum.
On Wednesday, Wang Yi emphasized that during a recent meeting on the sidelines of the APEC gathering, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba agreed to promote the China-Japan strategic and mutually beneficial relationship in line with the principles outlined in the four political documents between the two nations.
The objective is to build a stable and constructive relationship that meets the demands of the new era.
Wang Yi expressed hope that Japan would collaborate with China to implement the consensus that the two nations should be “partners of cooperation for each other and not threats to each other.”
He pointed out that these four political documents provide the political and legal framework for bilateral relations, and fulfilling these commitments would strengthen the foundation of China-Japan ties.
Noting the deep economic interdependence between the two countries, he called for joint efforts to uphold the global free trade system and maintain stability in industrial and supply chains.
Wang Yi also underscored the importance of cooperating to safeguard regional solidarity and counter outside confrontations.
