BEIJING, Feb 6 (Alliance News): China has firmly opposed any plans to annex Gaza, stating that it belongs to the Palestinian people and is an integral part of Palestinian territory, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiankui said at a press conference on Thursday.
Guo emphasized that Gaza is not a bargaining chip for political transactions and reaffirmed China’s support for the legitimate national rights of Palestinians.
He stressed that the principle of “rule of Palestine by the Palestinians” must be upheld in the governance of Gaza.
China also rejected the forced transfer of Gaza’s population and expressed readiness to work with the international community for a just resolution to the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution.
The spokesperson reiterated China’s call for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with full sovereignty, based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
