China Urges G7 to Move Beyond Geopolitical Games, Calls for Constructive Engagement

BEIJING, Nov 28 (Alliance News): In response to the joint statement by the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Conference, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning reiterated China’s firm stance against the G7’s criticisms and called for constructive engagement based on mutual respect.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Mao Ning addressed the G7’s comments regarding issues such as the East China Sea, the South China Sea, Taiwan, Xinjiang, Tibet, and Hong Kong.

She criticized the group for making what she termed “attacks and slander on China” while proposing cooperation on global challenges.

“If the G7 wishes to establish constructive and stable relations with China and collaborate on global challenges, they must adhere to the principles of mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit,” she stated.

Mao Ning emphasized that the world is facing rapid changes and unprecedented challenges to international peace and development. She urged the G7 to abandon what she described as geopolitical games and narrow-minded approaches, calling instead for practical efforts to promote global unity and cooperation.

The G7 statement also touched on the need to halt support for the Russian defense industry and addressed concerns over China’s alleged “overproduction capacity.” Mao Ning expressed hope that the G7 would focus on fostering international collaboration rather than perpetuating divisions.
