Tel Aviv, Nov 7 (Alliance News): Israel’s parliament has passed a controversial law allowing the deportation of families of “Palestinian attackers,” including Palestinian citizens of Israel and residents of occupied East Jerusalem, to the Gaza Strip or other regions.
The law, approved by a 61-41 vote, was pushed through by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party and its far-right allies.
The law will target the families of those accused of attacking Israelis, allowing their deportation for a period of 7 to 20 years.
The controversial measure is expected to face legal challenges in court, with critics arguing it is a violation of basic human rights and international law.
The law comes amid ongoing violence in Gaza, where the conflict between Israel and Hamas continues to escalate, resulting in significant loss of life, including women and children.
