North Korea’s Kim Jong Un Threatens Nuclear Response Amid Escalating Tensions with South Korea

Seoul, Oct 4 (Alliance News): North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has warned of using nuclear weapons to destroy South Korea if attacked, in response to recent remarks by South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, who said North Korea would face the “end of its regime” if it deployed nuclear weapons.

Kim’s fiery statement came as tensions on the Korean Peninsula continue to mount.

The North Korean leader made his remarks while touring a military base, according to state media, days after South Korea’s president displayed his nation’s military might during a parade for Armed Forces Day.

Kim’s threats come amid North Korea’s ongoing efforts to enhance its nuclear capabilities, as evidenced by recent images showing Kim inspecting a uranium enrichment facility, raising concerns globally.

“If the South were to encroach upon our sovereignty, Pyongyang would not hesitate to use all offensive forces, including nuclear weapons,” Kim said.

He also threatened that Seoul’s existence would be “impossible” if such a situation arose.

The escalation follows President Yoon’s unveiling of South Korea’s Hyunmoo-5 ballistic missile, capable of penetrating North Korean bunkers, as well as the United States flying a B-1B bomber over Seoul in a show of support for its ally.

North Korea, which considers the South its “principal enemy,” has intensified ties with Russia and shown increasing confidence in its nuclear program.

South Korea’s leadership, meanwhile, has warned that any nuclear aggression by the North would prompt a swift and overwhelming response from both South Korean and U.S. forces.
