Trump to Visit Paris for Notre-Dame Cathedral Reopening

WASHINGTON, Dec 3 (Alliance News): US President-elect Donald Trump announced on Monday that he would be traveling to Paris on Saturday to attend the reopening of the Notre-Dame Cathedral.

This visit marks Trump’s first international trip since winning the election on November 5.

The historic cathedral, a symbol of French heritage and one of the world’s most renowned Gothic structures, was heavily damaged by a fire over five years ago.

Extensive reconstruction has since been carried out, restoring its 12th-century architecture, including the spire, rib vaulting, flying buttresses, stained-glass windows, and intricate stone gargoyles, with the white stone and gold decorations now shining with renewed brilliance.

In a post on his social-media platform, Truth Social, Trump commended French President Emmanuel Macron for his efforts in overseeing the cathedral’s restoration.

“President Emmanuel Macron has done a wonderful job ensuring that Notre Dame has been restored to its full level of glory, and even more so. It will be a very special day for all!” Trump wrote.

The reopening will welcome tourists and the Catholic faithful back to the iconic site. Trump, who is set to assume office on January 20, will be visiting Paris as part of his first major foreign engagement since his electoral victory.
