Turkey Strikes PKK Bases in Iraq and Syria After Deadly Suicide Attack Near Ankara

ANKARA, Oct 25 (Alliance News): The Turkish Air Force has conducted airstrikes on Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) bases in Iraq and Syria, reportedly killing over 60 militants in a retaliatory response.

The Turkish Ministry of Defense confirmed that 47 PKK targets were destroyed in the offensive—29 in Iraq and 18 in northern Syria.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Democratic Forces reported 12 casualties and 25 injuries in the strikes.

The airstrikes follow a recent suicide attack on a weapons facility near Ankara, which claimed five lives and injured many others.

Turkish authorities attributed the attack to the PKK, labeling it a terrorist act.

The incident unfolded in the Kahraman Kazin district, where two armed men attacked the TAI headquarters, but were quickly apprehended by Turkish security forces.

Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Golar stated that the government remains committed to eliminating terrorist threats in the region, emphasizing that counter-terrorism efforts will continue unabated.

This development also comes amid recent remarks from Nationalist Movement Party leader Devlet Bahçeli, who hinted at a potential conditional parole for PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan—a possibility Ocalan has reportedly declined for over a decade.
