UNSC Discusses Ukraine Crisis, China Calls for Restraint and Ceasefire

UNITED NATIONS, Nov 28 (Alliance News): The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) reviewed the ongoing Ukraine crisis, with China’s permanent representative, Geng Shuang, expressing concerns over the intensification of the conflict and the increasing use of advanced weaponry, including long-range arms, cluster bombs, and potentially anti-personnel mines.

Addressing the council, Geng Shuang urged all parties to exercise restraint, abandon violence, prioritize peace, and initiate negotiations to establish a ceasefire.

He reiterated China’s stance on resolving the crisis through dialogue, emphasizing the need to prioritize the welfare of the people affected.

In response to remarks from U.S. Deputy Permanent Representative Robert Wood regarding Russia-North Korea cooperation, Geng Shuang highlighted the importance of a collective international effort to achieve a political solution.

He appealed to the U.S. and other stakeholders to collaborate sincerely with China in seeking an end to the war.

China reaffirmed its commitment to promoting dialogue and peace, calling for immediate actions to de-escalate the conflict and prevent further humanitarian fallout.
