Washington, Dec 19 (Alliance News): The United States has imposed sanctions on four companies allegedly linked to Pakistan’s ballistic missile program, citing concerns over weapons proliferation.
US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller announced the sanctions, targeting the National Development Complex (NDC), Affiliates International, Akhtar & Sons Private Limited, and Rockside Enterprises.
The sanctions are part of efforts to counter the spread of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and their delivery mechanisms.
According to the US, these entities facilitated the acquisition of equipment critical to the development of Pakistan’s missile systems. “We will continue to act against proliferation and related procurement activities,” stated Miller.
Foreign media reports emphasized that the measures come under an executive order aimed at addressing long-range missile threats. This marks the third round of sanctions targeting entities associated with Pakistan’s ballistic missile development.
The National Development Complex, a key player in Pakistan’s missile program, has been specifically highlighted for its contributions.
Pakistan has yet to formally respond to the sanctions.
