Zelensky Apologizes to Trump in Letter Amid Ukraine Peace Talks

Washington, March 11 (Alliance News): Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has sent a letter to former U.S. President Donald Trump, apologizing for a heated exchange that took place during an Oval Office meeting, Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff revealed on Monday.

Speaking on Fox News, Witkoff confirmed that Zelensky expressed regret over the incident, calling the letter an “important step” in ongoing discussions between the U.S., Ukraine, and European allies.

His remarks come as officials from both countries prepare for peace negotiations in Saudi Arabia aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict with Russia.

The move follows recent comments from U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson, who urged Zelensky to “come to his senses” and show gratitude to maintain U.S. support for Ukraine. Meanwhile, Trump acknowledged receiving Zelensky’s letter during a congressional address, noting that it arrived shortly after the U.S. suspended military aid to Ukraine.

Despite the tensions, Zelensky signaled Ukraine’s willingness to return to negotiations, particularly on a potential minerals agreement. Witkoff emphasized the need for clear discussions on security, territorial concerns, and a utility plan to ensure transparency in the peace process.

Additionally, Witkoff announced plans to visit Moscow for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, though no date for the meeting has been confirmed.
