LEBANON, Sept 23 (Alliance News): The Israeli military has launched further airstrikes on Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon, as tensions between the two sides continue to escalate.
According to a statement from the Israeli military on Monday, the strikes targeted areas where the Iran-backed militant group operates, following warnings to civilians to evacuate.
Earlier in the day, Israeli strikes resulted in the death of one person and injuries to six others, Lebanon’s health ministry reported.
In response, many civilians have been fleeing southern Lebanon and even Hezbollah-controlled areas of Beirut’s southern suburbs.
The situation has led to widespread evacuations, particularly in regions near the Lebanon-Israel border, where the nearly year-long exchange of fire has displaced thousands.
As the Hamas-Israel war, which began on October 7, intensifies, so too has the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in the border region.
