London, Sept 03 (Alliance News): British Foreign Secretary David Lemmy announced that the UK is immediately suspending 30 arms export licenses to Israel.
This decision comes after the UK assessed that some military products could be used in ways that violate international humanitarian law.
The suspension affects licenses for parts used in military aircraft, such as fighter jets, helicopters, and drones.
On the same day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called for Israel to control the “Philadelphia Corridor,” a key military buffer zone along the Gaza-Egypt border.
Netanyahu criticized the Egyptian government for failing to secure this area, which Israel believes is used for smuggling arms to Hamas.
The control of this corridor is a significant point in the ongoing Palestinian-Israeli ceasefire negotiations.
In the US, President Joe Biden expressed frustration with Netanyahu’s efforts to reach a prisoner release agreement with Hamas, stating that the negotiations have not been satisfactory.
