KAZAN, Oct 24 (Alliance News): Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Iranian President Masoud Peshkian during the BRICS Summit in Kazan, highlighting the deepening strategic ties between China and Iran amid global and regional challenges.
According to Chinese media reports on Thursday, President Xi emphasized the growing strategic importance of China-Iran relations and reaffirmed China’s commitment to fostering friendly cooperation with Iran, regardless of changes in the international landscape.
He expressed China’s unwavering support for Iran’s sovereignty, security, and economic development and stressed the need for further collaboration in various fields.
President Peshkian hailed China as Iran’s most important partner and highlighted the strong pace of development in the comprehensive strategic partnership. He expressed Iran’s desire to strengthen cooperation with China, emphasizing mutual support on core issues, opposition to hegemony, and collaboration on multilateral platforms like BRICS.
Both leaders also addressed the current situation in the Middle East, with President Xi calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and adherence to UN Security Council resolutions to ease regional tensions.
