Xi Jinping Calls for Ceasefire and UN Role in Gaza Crisis at G20 Summit

RIO DE JANEIRO: Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza to alleviate the humanitarian crisis and pave the way for post-war reconstruction.

Speaking at the 19th G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Xi highlighted the severe hardship caused by the ongoing conflict and called for efforts to de-escalate tensions.

He emphasized the need for the United Nations, particularly the UN Security Council, to play a more prominent role in facilitating peace talks and supporting constructive efforts toward resolving the Gaza crisis.

Xi also called for a political solution that would include reducing tensions in Ukraine, supporting a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine, and restoring the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, ultimately leading to an independent Palestinian state.
