Google Boosts Pakistani Developers: New Programs and Training Announced at Lahore Event

ISLAMABAD, Sept 03 (Alliance News):  Pakistan’s gaming and app industry has demonstrated remarkable growth in recent years, with a 32% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in global downloads of locally developed apps from 2018 to 2023.

This significant growth was highlighted at the ThinkApps conference hosted by Google in Lahore.

Despite a slight decrease in overall app downloads in 2023, which placed Pakistan at 17th globally, the industry remains robust with a 50% increase in in-app purchase revenue.

The conference saw participation from over 350 developers, along with regional and global industry leaders and experts.

To further support developers, Google is launching new initiatives in 2024. One notable program is the Game Design Masterclass, which will bring together top Pakistani game developers for a six-month training program focused on creating high-quality games.

Additionally, the Google Ads Academy will conduct offline hackathon workshops in Lahore and Islamabad, offering personalized training on app development strategies.

Developers will also have opportunities to enhance their skills in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cloud technologies through hands-on sessions.

So far, more than 9,300 developers have benefited from these programs.

Farhan S. Qureshi, Director of Google for Pakistan, emphasized the goal of providing developers with access to AI-powered resources to excel in game creation and app development.
